Z PLM Supports 3 primary types of data to support product development and lifecycle management.
- Part
- Part data object represents different forms of parts that are used to buy, make and sell products. Part object includes a rich set information, including attributes, purchasing and sales information as well as any related documents and forms
- Form
- Form is a generic structured object that is used to represent different types of product related information, including requirements, specification, FMEAs and control plans among others. Z PLM supports comprehensive data modeling capability for forms as well as lifecycle management (version, revision and release management).
- Files
- Z PLM has rich support for managing files as independent objects or in relation to other objects (usually parts) and processes. Files are also subject to lifecycle management (version, revision and release management).
Part
A part in Z PLM is a special type of object that represents various types of parts that are typically manufactured, procured and sold (SKUs). The part object has different attributes as well as relationships with itself and other objects that represent Bills of Material (BOM), suppliers, alternates, files and more. The following figure below shows the attributes as well as relationships possible with the Part object.
Forms
Forms in Z PLM represent structured information such as Requirements, Design Verification Plans, FMEAs, Process Plans and others. Z PLM is the only solution on the market that provides easy capability to model information (simple and complex) as interrelated forms as well as lifecycle management (version, revision and release management) for these forms. The picture below shows an FMEA (a type of Form) in Z PLM.
Files
Z PLM also provides support for lifecycle management of files (version, revision and release management). Files can be managed in relation to a range of objects (parts, project tasks, processes, etc.) as well by themselves. In addition, Files can be managed as part of the Repository, a enterprise and supply chain oriented data security and sharing capability that is integral to Z PLM.
In addition to the above Z PLM is based on ZApp composite application framework. The underlying composite application framework allows development of sophisticated applications with the help of comprehensive data modeling, process management, flexible reporting, application extension using modern Java, modern UI development and application integration.
